Work We Turn Down
We don't price every job over the phone, and we turn a few down outright once we see them. A door that's been painted shut, sprung wrong by a previous repair, or welded instead of replaced on the hinge side is often not worth chasing - replacement beats another patch. Same goes for doors on homes built well outside our usual stock: most of the houses we work on in this area went up between 1972 and 1994, median around 1987, which means standard torsion hardware and common panel sizes. If your door is a custom architectural unit or an import we can't source parts for locally, we'll tell you that on the first call instead of taking the job and guessing. We also don't do structural carpentry - if the opening itself is out of square or the header's rotted, that's a contractor's job first, ours second. And we don't quote cosmetic jobs sight unseen; a scratched panel might be a $200 fix or a full door depending on what's underneath. If we can't give you a straight answer without looking at the door, we'll say so rather than throw out a number that won't hold.
The Areas We Cover
We run service calls out of Port Orange and the surrounding area, inside roughly a 20-mile radius. That covers South Daytona (4 miles), Daytona Beach Shores (4 miles), Ponce Inlet (5 miles), Samsula-Spruce Creek (5 miles), Daytona Shores (5 miles NNE), New Smyrna Beach (7 miles), Glencoe (7 miles), Parkside (8 miles SE), Holly Hill (9 miles), Edgewater (12 miles), Florida Shores (13 miles SSE), Lake Helen (16 miles), Ormond-by-the-Sea (16 miles), and Oak Hill (20 miles). Most of the housing stock across this stretch dates from the 1980s and 90s, which means a lot of the doors we see are original builder-grade steel sectional doors on extension or torsion springs from that era - reliable hardware, but old enough now that rollers and cables are due no matter how the door looks from the driveway. If you're outside this list, call anyway; we'll tell you straight whether the drive makes sense for the job.
What We Actually Do
We repair and replace residential garage doors - springs, openers, tracks, rollers, cables, hinges, and panels - plus full door replacements when a repair isn't worth it. A quote is only as accurate as what we know going in, so when you call or request one, tell us the door's width (single or double), whether it's steel, wood, or aluminum, roughly how old it is, and what it's doing: won't open, open but grinding, sagging on one side, opener clicking but door not moving. Photos help more than a description. What we can't price over the phone is anything that needs eyes on it: a bent track, a door that's been forced, water damage to the bottom panel, or an opener that's intermittent instead of dead. Those get a number once we're standing in front of the door, not before. We don't carry every brand or every panel style in the truck, so on install or full-replacement jobs we'll talk through what's actually available before we quote a model. Given the mild climate here, we don't build in extra cost for weatherproofing or insulation upgrades unless you ask for them - most owners in this area don't need it. Frequently asked questions
What information do I need to give you for an accurate garage door quote?
Door width (single or double), material, roughly how old it is, and what it's actually doing - won't open, grinding, sagging, or an opener that clicks but doesn't move the door. A photo or two usually tells us more than a long description, and it's the fastest way to get a real number instead of a guess.
Can you quote my repair without coming out to look at it?
For a lot of straightforward jobs, yes - a snapped torsion spring on a standard door, for instance. But bent tracks, forced doors, water damage, or anything intermittent needs eyes on it before we'll put a number on it. We'd rather tell you that upfront than quote low and change it on site.
Do you service areas outside the list on this page?
Our regular coverage runs from South Daytona and Daytona Beach Shores out to Oak Hill, about 20 miles. If you're just past that radius, call anyway - we'll tell you straight whether the drive makes sense before you wait on a quote.
Does the age of my house affect what parts you'll need?
Often, yes. Most houses in this area were built between 1972 and 1994, so a lot of the doors we open up still have original builder-grade hardware from that era. It's usually serviceable, but rollers, cables, and springs on a door that old are typically due regardless of how it looks from outside.
